What We Did This Weekend

This weekend was pretty filled, like most weekends, but this one in particular was filled with things we chose along the way. You know what I mean? The difference between weekends that are already pre-planned versus the ones you just get to plan along the way? Both are nice, but the plan-along-the-way ones are really nice every once in a while :)

Friday

cappuccino

Early Friday morning started off with coffee at Palermo with a few of my girlfriends. This is has been such a sweet start to my Fridays, lately :)

After coffee I went to Step Class II with my Dad, where my knee practically gave out halfway through. EERK. I have never had the strongest knees, but Friday, I pushed it too hard in the beginning of class. Anyone else have weak knees? What do you do? I’m contemplating switching up my workouts again, but am sad to do so because I’ve been loving Step for the past few months.

After Step Class I went home, ate a snack, got ready, and headed to the beach. I laid all of the seats down in my Prius, grabbed some blankets, and made a cozy workspace for myself. It was kind of like when Marco and I had >> this date <<.

I talked to my friend Simi for about an hour n’ a half (we plan this every two-weeks) then answered e-mails, worked on a few posts, and did some planning.

It was such a cozy day out. In fact, this whole weekend has been less hot and more cozy. Come on rain!

After work it was time to wake up the Husband and go play. We landed ourselves in Riverpark Oxnard for dinner at Lazy Dog Cafe. This is new to our area, and we’d never been before.

Marco got a burger & fries (I have a photo of him eating his burger mid-bite, but I haven’t decided if he’s going to read this post or not, so I’ll spare myself the “Paige! What is that?!”) and I got a Mediterranean Half-Crisp.

“Roasted veggies, mushrooms, caramelized onions, Laura Chenel goat cheese & a balsamic vinegar drizzle on baked lavash.”

Okay, I expected to see “horseradish” when I went back and looked at the menu. There was something so spicy on this that I would have taken off next time. It was a mix between wasabi and garlic, and sorry, but it left with me with the worst breathe ever. I kept telling Marco in a romantic, big-breath way, “I’m soooooo glaaaad this isn’t our fiiiiirst daaaate.” He was loving me for that!

Hmm… okay, if it wasn’t horseradish, what was it? What is Laura Chenel goat cheese? Let’s google it.

Okay, Google didn’t help me much. So, anyway, next time you go to Lazy Dog make sure you ask what was spicy on this, and do not get that spicy stuff. Trust me, I like spicy, but this was no bueno to taste for hours after. If they say nothing on the Mediterranian Half-Crisp is supposed to be spicy, then something just went really wrong with mine. Ha!

We ended our night walking around in Whole Foods, and then watching the new Netflix Season of “Jess” (New Girl) and splitting homemade popcorn.

Saturday

I have no photos of Saturday, but I can share with you just how it went!

My morning started off with a walk at the beach with my Mom, Aunties, and our family friend.

After our walk, I went to my book group where we are studying “Soul Keeping.” Again, another really sweet group of girls.

After group, I went grocery shopping and picked everything up for this weeks Intuitive Meal Ideas:

  1. Turkey Burgers on whole wheat honey buns (again, to finish off the buns from last week)
  2. Kale, Quinoa, and Veggie Sausage
  3. Salmon, Rice, and Asparagus
  4. Soyrizo Tacos
  5. Lentil Soup
  6. Chicken Villa, Rice, and Beans (homemade – usually get this from Yolanda’s)

We already made the Turkey Burgers on Saturday, and I left the cheese off this time. I realized last time I ate them that I actually enjoy them more when they are cheese-less, just like my favorite restaurant makes them.

I haven’t decided which meal sounds good for tonight, but you’ll definitely find out tomorrow :)

Once Marco woke up Saturday we went to the Home & Garden show at the Ventura Fair Grounds. We went less (much less) for the H&G part of the show, and more (100% more) for the RV Part of the show. We toured through 20+ RV’s… and sadly, didn’t fall in love with one yet, but we’ll get there. We are dying to get a trailer!

We walked there from home, so afterwards, we just kept on walkin’ and then headed home. That was about 5 miles of walking. Tired feet!

Sunday

Sunday I woke up and had such a relaxing (in my opinion), cozy morning. Marco was sleeping until 10:30, and I was up by 7. I fell asleep at 8 on Sat! I got plenty of rest this weekend that I really needed.

Since I like organizing, cleaning, and getting all my “ducks in a row” I spent time balancing our checkbook, getting our laundry done, cleaning the house, and relaxing with my book, “Soul Keeping.” Ah, fresh, clean house :)

mission church ventura

I woke Marco up at 10:30, and we headed to Church where Mike taught on the last of our Series “It’s Complicated.” We had already talked about conflict and sex, now was time to talk about money. It was a great service, and I came home and got really budget happy while Marco took a nap (he had only slept for 3 hours before Church – poor guy!). To listen to Podcasts – search “Mission Church” in Podcasts.

Once he woke up around 3 we went to my parents house to have dinner and wash M’s car. Mom made us taco’s. Mmm-mmm good!

I also updated my iPhone yesterday, and now it’s going nuts. Anyone else have this problem?

I hope you all enjoyed your weekend! I’m off to do some work, then get in some exercise. I’ll see you back here in the morning :)
